Problem Definition and Analysis of Target Crashes and ITS Countermeasure Actions

Project Objective

The project has developed an analytical methodology for defining, analyzing, and modeling target and ITS/crash avoidance countermeasures action for the purpose of assessing potential effectiveness and identifying R&D priorities and/or assessing potential safety benefits. The methodology has been applied to several types of collisions. These findings will help the U.S. DOT to prioritize and guide research and development on these countermeasures.
